Randel Overton began his career in the fire service as a volunteer Firefighter with the City of Copperas Cove Texas in 1973. After being Honorably discharged from military service in 1974 Mr. Overton and his family returned to his home town in the Oklahoma City area. Soon after resetleing in the Oklahoma City area he was employed by the City of The Village Oklahoma Fire Department as a full time Firefighter. During his tenure of service with The Village Fire Department Mr. Overton recieved proffesional training in all facets of firefighting from The Oklahoma State Fire Service Training Center in Stillwater Oklahoma, became the first Emergency Medical Technician for the Village Fire Department and attended Oklahoma State Univerisity majoring in Fire Protection Engineering and Fire Science. In 1983 and in the wake of an explosion and tragic loss of life at Starr Elementry in Spencer Oklahoma Mr. Overton was recruited by The City of Spencer as Deputey Fire Chief/Fire Marshal.
Mr. Overton's responsibilties for The City of Spencer Oklahoma included the inspection of all schools, places of public assembly and commercial buildings, enforcement of State and Municipal Codes, fire investigations, incident command and training of fire suppression personnell In 1984 Mr. Overton testified as an expert wittness in an Arson prosecution case for the first time resulting in a conviction for 1st degree Arson. In 1990 Mr. Overton joined the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal Office and was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division for that Agency. While with the Agency Mr. Overton was certified as a full time peace officer, accelerant canine detection handler, and graduate of the Oklahoma Criminal Investigations Accedemy In January of 2000 Mr. Overton retired from public service and established Overton & Associates Fire & Explsion Consultants. To date Mr. Overton has investigated more than three thousand fires and explosions for government agencies, Insurance Carriers, Individuals and Law Firms.
